Carrying-out & Results
In
the morning of the two test days, the three testers took
their respective body temperature before any activity, any
physical effort and cold resistance.
*
The tests in cross-country ski were carried on 22.02.2001
all day long, in the morning between 10.15am and 12.00pm,
i.e. for 40mn for the "Every-day-life Man"
and the "Young Lady", and for 1h45mn for
the "Sportsman". He did go further in testing
in the afternoon from 1.15pm to 3.00pm, i.e. for 1h45mn.
After
all tests done, the three testers measured their own body
temperature to note the COLDWINNER protection effect
against cold, and expressed their remarks.

All
tests made in cross-country skiing were carried out in very
extreme conditions. The "Every-day-life Man"
and the "Young Lady" did some cross-country
skiing on easy slopes, however they did suffer from cold
and wind in their faces and a bit on their hands. Their
bodies did remain perfectly kept warm and dry.
Nevertheless,
the "Sportsman" made all tests in cross-country
ski skating on slopes of great difficulty, given the long
and uneven slopes. He went skiing in the morning with a
light breathable jacket that he took off 30m after starting
the activity. He thus only kept the sublimated Jersey and
Underpants in COLDWINNER – heavy version during the
rest of the day. When the "Sportsman" stopped
at lunchtime, he was sweating a lot, and his sublimated
Jersey in COLDWINNER was totally wet in the back and
the tester’s skin was a bit humid. He had to wait for about
20mn to be completely warm and dry again. The sublimated
outfit in COLDWINNER showed its perfect functions
and efficiency in that activity requiring a very intense
physical effort in such extreme conditions.
The
Army personnel of the CASTORS Centre were able to
use Undergloves in COLDWINNER – light version with
their ski gloves. They have extremely appreciated the new
fabric efficiency, given that day very low temperatures.
